CyrusOne is excited to introduce its new summer 2023 interns! We welcome eight interns, all of whom came to us from the Association for Computer Operations Management’s (AFCOM) data center internship program. CyrusOne is proud to partner with AFCOM and offer paid internships to train and inspire the next generation of data center professionals. We believe internships are a vital part of any company’s talent pipeline and often the launching point of a great career, providing insights and experiences academia rarely offers while earning a degree. Our interns get one-on-one assignments, career mentoring, weekly check-ins, progress reports, and long-term mentorship. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in data centers or companies that support data center functions such as technicians, operators, and/or technologists. We are excited to introduce Rebecca Esser, Mei Chen, Sundas Shah, Bryan Buford, Sumukh Tavarekere Girish, Adiel Becerril, Jakob Espinosa, and Tyler Brimhall.

We chatted with a few of them, and this is what they had to say:
Bryan Buford
Bryan attended the NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College) Data Center Operations (DCO) Program. He is pursuing a career as an Operations Engineer or a Data Center Technician. As a CyrusOne intern, Bryan says “CyrusOne has provided quite the learning experience. Everyone is nice and is ready to teach about anything I have questions about. They've helped clarify and re-enforce what I've learned with the NOVA DCO program. CyrusOne has been transparent with their on-the-groundwork and the business side. It’s interesting to see how the business runs since I have no insight into that sort of stuff.”
Tyler Brimhall
Tyler is currently attending Arizona State University and will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in information technology in May of 2024. He is pursuing a career in tech, in either networking or cloud platforms. Tyler says “I chose to intern at CyrusOne because I felt like it would be a great opportunity to see how data centers operate and it would allow me to have hands-on experience. So far it has been a very insightful experience. I have enjoyed getting to be a part of different projects and learning from those that I have been paired with.”
Adiel Becerril
Adiel recently graduated from Glendale Community College with an associate degree in network and systems administration. He is currently studying for my CCNA. Adiel says “I discovered CyrusOne through extensive job searching since I was ready to work after finishing school. I wanted to get hands-on experience in my field immediately, and I was very interested in the intern position that CyrusOne had available. I have never worked at a data center before, so this has been an amazing experience so far! From cross-connecting and cabling to service delivery and fulfilling the client's requests, I have received and continue to receive valuable experience in many fields and roles that are critical to the data center's operation.”
Rebecca Esser
Rebecca attended NOVA this past year and is transferring to the University of Maryland in the fall. She is particularly interested in data analytics but is excited to fully take advantage of this opportunity in a data center. Rebecca said, “I think a career in a data center would be awesome, especially after being here for four weeks and getting to know the people here. I'm excited for these next six weeks in the internship and my next two years of school, as I plan to use this time to gain as much experience as I can to discover my likes, dislikes, and passions. I am extremely thankful to be at CyrusOne for the summer. The people here are all great and have so much valuable experience and insight. I feel so privileged to have this opportunity.”
