AMSTERDAM (January 23, 2020) – Dutch Data Center Association (DDA) has today announced CyrusOne Inc. (NASDAQ:CONE), a premier global data center REIT, will be joining the trade association as one of its largest global members. This announcement comes as CyrusOne is preparing to open Amsterdam I, the company’s first data center campus in the Netherlands offering total power of 72 megawatts upon full buildout.

“The Netherlands is strategically critical to CyrusOne’s expansion plans in Europe, and Amsterdam I is an illustration of our efforts to expand our advanced colocation capabilities across major European hubs and answer growing enterprise and cloud demand,” says Matt Pullen, CyrusOne’s Managing Director Europe.” We are delighted to be working with the DDA and see this partnership as one of the foundations for our commitment to best practice in the country. We also continue to work with SADC and local councils to reduce our environmental and societal impact.”

Tom Kingham, Engineering Solutions Director, Europe at CyrusOne, adds: “Our Amsterdam site is strategically located along longhaul fibre routes for multiple carriers as they enter the Amsterdam metro from the landing stations to the West. These landing stations connect the site to the UK, Denmark, France and the USA. As a result this site offers a connectivity gateway to the Amsterdam metro network which is one of the busiest networks in the world with a peak traffic flow of nearly 7Tb/s through the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX)

CyrusOne Amsterdam I is a brand new purpose-built state-of-the-art data center campus offering cloud providers, systems integrators, and multinational corporations customized, secure, and resilient data center solutions within a key business hub. It is the largest purpose-built brand-new data center facility under construction in Amsterdam, and will ultimately deliver approximately 320,000sq ft of world-class technical space offering total power of 72 megawatts in two separate buildings, one of three storeys and one of two storeys.

Stijn Grove, Director of the DDA, regards CyrusOne as a valuable new participant of the association: “The Netherlands has a leading position as “Digital Gateway to Europe” and we welcome all relevant parties that can enrich this important hub further. CyrusOne is a well respected, global data center operator working for the world’s largest companies and we very much look forward to work together towards common goals. We’re positive there is a clear mutual benefit in the sense that CyrusOne can gain knowledge on the Dutch market through our community, and vice versa we can benefit from their international presence and experience.”

DDA believes that collaboration is the best way to move forward. It connects participants, partners and interest groups in the Netherlands and beyond. Furthermore, the DDA closely collaborates with Digital Gateway to Europe, which promotes the Netherlands as an international data hub.

CyrusOne is a key sponsor at Kickstart Europe, an industry event hosted in Amsterdam on 27 & 28 January 2020, and an initiative led by Digital Gateway to Europe.

CyrusOne operates nearly 50 data centers facilities across the United States, Europe and Asia to provide customers with the flexibility and scale to match their specific IT growth needs. CyrusOne facilities are engineered with the most power redundancy to add scalability.
