Our 2021 Sustainability Report is here!
Customers, investors, employees… you all ask us questions: “How energy- and water- efficient are your data centers?” “Do you have a Vendor Code of Conduct?” “Can we get renewable energy?” For the past few years, we’ve been taking note of all the questions we’re asked about sustainability topics, and we now have one reference to answer them all: our 2021 Sustainability Report.
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made since our first report last year: expanded social and governance chapters with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; more information about the tools and methods we use to assess and address climate risk; and deeper discussions of how we measure environmental performance and progress toward our goals. The report provides a good tool to help us understand where we excel and where we need to improve.
- Bringing ESG Together: Carrollton(pg. 10) – A feature discussing our flagship facility in North Texas, using the facility’s design and operations to illustrate our variety of sustainability initiatives and how they interact with each other.
- The Path to Zero Water (p. 33) – A case study of the tradeoffs between on-site water and water consumed in the electrical supply chain which challenges the conventional wisdom that evaporative cooling provides net water savings, particularly when renewable energy enters the mix.
- Responsible Supply Chain (p. 64) – Discussion of how an industry with relatively few employees can increase our leverage on sustainability issues through proactive supply chain management.
- Metrics & Targets Summary (p. 9) – For those who just want the numbers, this table highlights where we are now and where we are going.
Thanks to all the stakeholders who push us to improve! Keep asking questions, and if you have any feedback on the report we’d love to hear it. Contact us at [email protected]. You can also read the full report here.
