Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer, Kevin is responsible for defining and socializing the technology roadmap for CyrusOne. He also oversees site selection, design, and construction of the company’s worldwide data center assets.
Kevin joined CyrusOne in October 2011, after previously leading Microsoft’s global Data Center Services team as General Manager, where he fundamentally changed the way that company designed, developed, and operated of its worldwide data center assets. Under his 2-year leadership, Microsoft opened four of the world’s largest data centers, which became recognized for their innovation and industry-leading cost performance.
Prior to his Microsoft years, Kevin held several Operations roles at Yahoo!, where he joined as Director of Operations in their GeoCities acquisition of 1999. At Yahoo!, he was promoted to Senior Director in 2000, and to Vice President in 2006 as he managed global production operations, including those of all customer-facing networks, data centers and supporting infrastructure. Prior to Yahoo! Kevin was counted the fourth employee at GeoCities, which was acquired by Yahoo! for $4.6 billion.
Kevin’s background also includes over 10 years of experience in real-time embedded systems software development with several leading aerospace firms such as Lockheed and Marconi Dynamics. He was instrumental in the development of the avionics display systems for the YF-22 fighter program, which was later selected by the Air Force as their next generation fighter platform as the F-22 Raptor.
Kevin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Engineering Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign, and now lives with his wife, 4 children, and 7 chickens in the San Francisco Bay Area.
