Strategic Partners for Sustainability

Commitment To A Sustainable Future

CyrusOne’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction extends to being a strategic partner for sustainability.  Our customers have some of the most ambitious sustainability goals of any industry.  If we can be an effective partner in meeting their goals, we can help move society forward towards a sustainable future.

Access to Renewable Power

Many companies have targets to increase their use of renewable power, and we are here to help.  For companies that do not manage their own renewable energy certificates, we have verified that all of our power providers can offer renewable energy certificates to pair with your server power demand to help you meet your targets.  For companies that are looking for something more, please contact us and see how we can work with you toward your goals.

For example, we recently signed up for 6.5 megawatts of renewable energy for our Phoenix Chandler facility. Even better, two of our newest facilities, London I and II, operate entirely on renewable power.

Recycling for You and Us

Many of our data centers offer meeting rooms for customer use and as part of our customer service, we offer office recycling at all locations.  This matches the recycling we do behind the scenes with our electronics and
equipment.

Transparency

To be a strategic partner, we need to provide accurate information for our customers’ decisions.  This is why we provide sustainability data for each of our facilities to help with reporting and site selection, with a focus on water risk and power grid composition.

For water risk, we look at both the risk of the region in which the facility is located and the facility’s exposure to water risk, based on the amount of water required for operation.  This can help you to understand and mitigate your risks from potential water shortages. Since many of our facilities use Zero Water Consumption Cooling, they are an excellent choice to insulate your business from long-term water risk.

For the power grid, we report trends and values for the carbon intensity of the grid at each location, as well as the amount of renewable power on the grid feeding the facility.  This can help you select facilities with lower impacts and improve your location-based greenhouse gas reporting.  The trends can also help you to understand where the grid seems to be headed in the future.
